Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE), the representative body for Scotland’s financial services industry, has appointed Cheri Burns to a senior role within its Young Professionals network to bolster communications, with the aim of engaging and supporting the next generation of industry leaders.
SFE Young Professionals (SFEYP) was set up in 2016 by young people working in financial services across Scotland to provide opportunities for career development, access to networking and, ultimately, make the sector more accessible for emerging professionals.
Burns, currently PR & Corporate Communications Director for RegTech provider Encompass Corporation, joins its Committee structure as a Communication Strategy Lead.
An experienced media professional, she spent more than a decade working for some of the UK’s most renowned editorial brands before moving into the finance and technology space. Prior to joining Encompass, Burns held key editorial positions at national newspapers including The Daily Record and The Herald, as well as BBC Sport Scotland, before managing publications for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.
In her new role, she will be responsible for building communications strategies to align with SFEYP’s vision and values. Key to efforts will be collaboration with SFE to meet joint objectives that will further Scotland’s industry standing.
